Tom Brady Deflate Gate Update

Tom Brady Deflate Gate Update
On Thursday a federal judge in New York threw out Tom Brady's suspension.  Jeffrey Kessler, attorney for the accused, explained, "We always believed in our case, and it never mattered to us that the NFL wanted to have this case in New York as opposed to Minnesota."

What is Deflate Gate?
For those of you that have not been paying the case any attention you may be wandering: what is Deflate Gate? Deflate Gate is a controversy in the NFL involving the allegation of tampering with football by the New England Patriots.  The "gate" suffix refers to the original Watergate scandal during the 1970s.

Tom Brady's Suspension
Moments after Roger Goodell handed down his decision to uphold Tom Brady's suspension the NFL raced to the federal courthouse in New York to file a suit before the NFL Players Association.

The NFL thought that by filing a suit against the association in New York, it would be a better venue than Minnesota where the association planned to file its own suit in hopes of getting the case heard by Judge David Doty who has ruled in the union's favor several times in the past.

The NFL's tactic backfired.  Doty was not given the case in Minnesota; it went to Judge Richard Kyle who transferred the suit to New York because the NFL filed first.

Jeff Kessler remains the proverbial thorn in the side of the NFL.  The NFL will likely appeal the decision in the favorable 2nd Circuit U.S. Appeals Court.

NFL Suspensions
Snoop Dogg, Steelers fan, posted the following video complaining about the reversal of Tom Brady's suspension.  Snoop Dogg argues that "all the homies that got weed cases in the league" should have their suspensions nullified as well.

The Steelers are most affected by NFL suspensions: Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant are suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy.  Snoop Dogg's Steelers play the Patriots when the season kicks off on Thursday night.
